Hindi is descended from the ancient Sanskrit language. It is a member of the Indo-Aryan branch of the Indo-European family of languages. Spoken by more than 360 million people, it has become the second most spoken language in the world. Also, Hindi speakers have the benefit of understanding Urdu- the official language of Pakistan- thereby increasing the communication possibilities for speakers of Hindi.
Hindi and English are the two official languages of India. Hindi is considered by many to be one of the easiest and logical languages to learn. The influence of this ancient language is widespread- Indian films are the second most prolific in the world and mainstream American music is increasingly being influenced by Indian music. As India’s growth as a world economy is on the rise, the ability to speak Hindi will increase one’s employment possibilities.
