Students who have had at least two years of Hindi instruction in high
school within the past two years, or who have acquired Hindi language
skills in some other manner, are required to take a placement examination if
they wish to continue their language study. (If the period of time which
has elapsed since the language was previously studied is longer than two
years, the test is not mandatory.) After a student has been placed into a
Hindi course and has completed the course with a grade of C or higher, s/he
may request up to 12 hours of retroactive credit for the preceding courses
in the beginning and intermediate sequence.
The written Hindi placement exam may be taken by contacting Elise Pflum,
FLTTC Director at
eapflum@smu.edu. She
will administer your exam and pass your exam along to Professor Bansal who
will score the exam and contact you with the results via e-mail.
The fee for the examination is a non-refundable $40.00, payable only before
the exam.
