
The FLTTC is located in 234 Clements Hall. The FLTTC is
open Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.., Friday 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. and
Sunday 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. The Center is open to FLL student use when the
lab has not been reserved for classes. Please click button to verify
availability.
The FLTTC currently has 25 computers (PC and Mac mix) for student use. Russian language students can access the internet, word process in Russian with Cyrillic software, make audio recordings and Russian films on the large screen satellite television.
FLTTC is equipped with a Pharos printing station. Students therefore need a copy card in order to print. Students may purchase copy cards as well CDs and DVDs in the FLTTC using cash or their SMU Pony card. Print fees are waived for students whose class is being held in the FLTTC and who are asked to print a course assignment for a professor.
Additional equipment in the FLTTC includes: a region free player for foreign PAL videos and DVDs, camcorders that can be checked out by faculty and students, a multi media computer with Adobe Creative Suite Pro Studio software, modular tables for small group work and a large screen with VCR/DVD projector which can be used for power point presentations and watching movies. Students are welcome to come to the lab to watch Russian movies. Wireless headphones are available to ensure that movie watching students and computing students can work simultaneously without disturbing each other.
The FLTTC also supports all Foreign Language Placement testing for the FLL department. Please refer to the Placement Exam link for further information regarding Russian language testing.
The FLTTC is staffed by a Director, a part-time Network Administrator and 12-15 student lab techs. All employees of the FLTTC are bilingual in at least one of the languages taught in the FLL.
